Budget 2018: Need clear signal from govt on local body taxes on movie tickets, says MD of Mukta Arts

The entertainment industry needs more clarity on GST and on how input credits work, said Puri.

In less than three days, we all will know what's in store for all sectors in Budget 2018. Moneycontrol has taken a look at the Budget wish list for startups, for the common man and how this Union Budget will impact personal finance.

The team has also gone out on streets to ask jewellers and small traders what they want from Arun Jaitley and even the youth of the country did not shy away to say what's on their mind for this Budget.

Now, the focus is on another important sector that was a little disappointed post the goods and services tax (GST) rollout. Although the entertainment sector is a sunrise sector for the economy, the tax slab for films under GST first came in at 28 percent. This was later reduced to 18 percent for movie tickets costing less than Rs 100.

To discuss not just about GST but other expectations from this Budget for the film business, Mukta Arts, MD, Rahul Puri joined Moneycontrol in our special edition for the Budget series.
